Are you ready for BREXIT? Our below guide will help you decide.
Here at Alliance, we have increased our operational capacity and are offering free advice to customers.
Speculation surrounding the outcome of the BREXIT negotiations has hit critical point, and as such we are advising our customers to prepare for a hard, no-deal BREXIT.
To help you prepare, we have highlighted below the basic steps you need to take to ensure compliance with UK customs regulations. Anyone importing goods into the UK from the EU, or exporting goods to the EU from the UK, will have to comply with customs procedures, where these were not previously necessary.
Assess your readiness:
If your answer is “No” to any one of the below questions, you will need to take action now:
Do you have an EORI number?
Do you know your Commodity Codes?
Is your shipping department prepared to provide a commercial invoice and packing list for every shipment? (See below paperwork checklist for the type of information you will be required to provide)
No EORI Number? ACT NOW!
If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, you’ll need to get a UK EORI number to continue trading with the EU after 29 March 2019.
It is a simple process to apply for the EORI number, however with BREXIT approaching fast, we are recommending that customers apply ASAP
Apply for an EORI number here: https://www.gov.uk/eori
If you already have a UK EORI number, you need not take any action
Don’t know your commodity codes?
In the event of “no deal”, goods traded between the UK and the EU after 23h on 29 March 2019 will be subject to the same requirements as third country goods, including the payment of duty.
You will need to establish commodity codes for your goods which in turn allows HMRC and the EU to apply the correct duty rates to your shipments.
Commodity codes can be found on the UK Trade Tariff: https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff
