Ships & Aircraft Visits
What do students gain from a ships/aircraft visit?
Evaluation from former students has identified key benefits ie:
• Students report they were better informed and gained a more up to date knowledge and understanding of port and airport operations and procedures
• This practical experience helps to translate classroom knowledge into a clear understanding of issues such as:
- the importance of cargo-weight distribution (especially in airfreight) - stowage planning for hazardous cargo, OOG movements & refrigerated cargo - labour relations - HMC export procedures - current requirements - timely deliveries inside port/airport deadlines and empathy for the magnitude of the handling procedures at P.O.D.
These trips greatly enhance students knowledge and experience of logistics issues and exponentially improve their practical application leading to greater confidence in dealing with their own export problems.
