The last decade has seen a multiplicity of shipping and forwarding agents go into receivership and are often subsequently liquidated – many unnecessarily so.

Often staff employed by the receiver/liquidator fail to grasp the need for urgent action once an agency has foundered, continuing to systematically produce the statement of affairs in order to assess the value of the remaining assets, whilst the largest potential asset, the on-going goodwill of the demised corporation is being totally decimated by the untimely departure of key staff, leaving the receiver/liquidator incapable of serving the on-going clients during that difficult period.
